Afterschool Reimagined
Afterschool Reimagined
Generator Z

In short

Generator Z, an initiative of the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, launched in 2020 as an ideas lab for teens and afterschool providers to reimagine the future of afterschool in Southeast Michigan and Western New York. Teens are the experts of their own lives and afterschool providers are the source of out-of-school time opportunities. Together, they drive the brightest possible future.

1,000 teens across both regions became Generators and shared their stories and insights. Over 200 afterschool providers learned from Generators, turning insight into ideas for afterschool programming experiences. Nearly 100 providers received grants totaling more than $4 million to bring these ideas to life. This documentary shares the story of this grantmaking experiment introducing you to a handful of Generators and the afterschool providers and programs they inspired.
